In a recent government meeting, officials highlighted significant progress in fireworks enforcement, reporting the seizure of over £4,500 worth of illegal fireworks during a crackdown that took place from July 1 to July 4. This operation marked one of the largest illegal firework busts in the department's history, with two suspects arrested and charged for possession and sale of the prohibited items.
The enforcement efforts were a collaborative initiative between the police department and the fire marshal, who are now working together to properly dispose of the confiscated merchandise. In addition to the fireworks seizure, authorities issued 40 citations during this enforcement period, underscoring their commitment to addressing illegal fireworks in the community.
Looking ahead, the meeting also celebrated the upcoming 30th anniversary of the local youth center, which will be commemorated on September 27. Officials expressed enthusiasm for the event and promised more details about the celebration, reflecting on the center's longstanding role in the community since its establishment.
