Kelly Shear, Vice President of Advancement at Carey Services, addressed the assembly, highlighting the organization's 70-year history of fostering independence and community engagement for people with disabilities. Shear emphasized the importance of community support in the organization's growth, which has evolved from its original name, Opportunity Industries, to its current identity as Carey Services. Today, the organization serves over 500 individuals daily and employs more than 230 staff members, providing a range of services from prenatal care to end-of-life support.
The meeting also marked the unveiling of a $2 million renovation at Carey Services, which includes the opening of a new restaurant aimed at fostering community connections. Shear invited attendees to visit the facility and enjoy meals prepared by the kitchen staff, reinforcing the organization's commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all.
