Enrollment surge sparks new adult education program launch

As the new school year approaches, the enrollment process for families in District 25 is set to undergo significant changes. The Family Welcome Center offices will be closed to the public on Friday, August 9, as the enrollment team transitions to new locations. The centers will reopen from August 12 through September 13, with designated sites for Districts 24, 25, and 30 located at 5500, 190 4th Street in Corona.

To streamline the enrollment process, the back-to-school centers will implement an appointment system for families. Appointments can be made via phone at 718-935-2828, through email at LyndonFwchools.nyc.gov, or by walking into the centers. Families seeking enrollment updates and information on zoned elementary and middle schools will not need an enrollment assignment letter for registration at their designated schools. Upon visiting a back-to-school site, families may receive necessary enrollment forms and checklists to facilitate their registration.

In an exciting development, District 25 will also launch an adult education program in partnership with District 79. This initiative, spearheaded by an assistant principal, will offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and GED programs for adults over 21. Over 700 individuals have already expressed interest in the program, indicating a strong demand for adult education in the district. The program will be managed by district staff and is expected to significantly benefit the community.
