Organized by local artist Colleen Reynolds, the festival attracted 33 registered artists who painted live across the region, culminating in a watercolor competition that featured 70 entries. The event, which included a $1,000 cash prize, is being positioned as a signature annual event for the city, with plans to expand its reach and participation in the future.

Additionally, the meeting covered the Arts and Culture Media Plan for fiscal year 2025, which allocates $25,000 for promoting arts-related events. The plan emphasizes targeted advertising through social media, print, and radio to boost attendance and awareness of local cultural activities. This strategic approach aims to engage both local residents and visitors, enhancing the overall cultural landscape of Carson City.

Another significant topic was the upcoming Murals and Music 2024 event, marking the ninth mural festival in Northern Nevada. This year’s festival will feature renowned artists, including Bill Lewis, who will recreate a historic mural at Heidi's Family Restaurant. The event will also honor the legacy of late artist Buzz Blur, with plans for an in memoriam tribute showcasing his work.

The meeting concluded with a preview of the mural locations, which will include various community centers and public spaces, further enriching the city’s artistic offerings. With 21 artists already confirmed, the festival is set to transform Carson City into a vibrant canvas, celebrating both local talent and the broader artistic community.
