During a recent government meeting, Debbie Stahl from the Northmont Community Table delivered an informative presentation highlighting the organization's mission and services aimed at assisting local residents in financial need. Invited by Councilwoman Kelly, Stahl emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the Community Table, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2009 in response to the economic struggles faced by the community during the financial crisis.
Stahl detailed the various programs offered by the Community Table, which include emergency financial assistance, a back-to-school fair, and a weekend food backpack program for children. Since its inception, the organization has provided over $100,000 in emergency aid, helping families with rent, utility bills, and other urgent needs. The back-to-school fair, scheduled for August 4th, is set to assist 500 children by providing them with school supplies tailored to their individual needs, alongside food boxes in partnership with Northmont Fish.
Additionally, the Community Table collaborates with local schools to support students facing crises, ensuring they have access to necessary resources, such as clothing for funerals or food over weekends when school meals are unavailable. Stahl expressed gratitude for the strong partnerships with local churches, organizations, and the Northmont school district, which facilitate the delivery of these essential services.
The presentation concluded with an invitation for community members to engage with the organization and support its ongoing efforts to assist those in need.
