The meeting highlighted the qualifications of three candidates: Harsh Taghi, Richard Mesa, and Morgan Kent, each presenting their backgrounds and visions for the library.
Miss Spangler, a city official, opened the discussion by explaining the recruitment process, which included public advertisements and a closed application period that yielded three applicants. Each candidate was invited to present their qualifications to the council.
Harsh Taghi, a technology delivery senior manager at Accenture, emphasized his experience in managing large-scale projects and his community engagement efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted a pilot program he developed aimed at forecasting homelessness, showcasing his commitment to social issues.
Richard Mesa, a long-time resident and foster parent, shared his extensive experience with the library system and his grassroots involvement in community initiatives. He expressed a desire to gather community feedback to enhance library services and programming.
Morgan Kent, who moved to Moore Park in 2021, brought a background in education and community event planning. She discussed her role in coordinating local events, including the Moorpark Apricot Festival, and her vision for the library as a community hub that fosters connections and lifelong learning.
Council members praised all three candidates for their qualifications and community involvement. After deliberation, the council unanimously nominated Morgan Kent for the position, citing her strong ties to the community and her proactive approach to library programming.
The meeting concluded with congratulations to Kent, who will now serve on the Library Board, reflecting the council's commitment to enhancing community engagement through library services.
