As the presidential election approaches on November 5th, officials are emphasizing the critical need for election workers and volunteers to ensure a smooth voting process. The call for assistance comes as the city gears up for what is anticipated to be a significant election year, with heightened promotional activities for various candidates already visible across media platforms.
Election workers, also referred to as precinct polling workers, will be compensated over $200 for their service on election day, with an additional $25 for required training. Those interested in contributing can apply through the City of Southfield's website or by contacting the office directly at 248-796-5150.
In addition to the call for workers, early voting will be available from October 26th to November 3rd, with extended hours on Halloween, October 31st, from noon to 8 PM. This initiative aims to alleviate long lines on election day and encourages residents to cast their votes early. Officials also urged voters to submit absentee ballots promptly, advising against waiting until election day to return them, as this could hinder the voting process.
