Shreeja Pavalluri, a government affairs and policy associate at Toronto Wireless, addressed attendees at a recent government meeting, highlighting the importance of supporting frontline healthcare workers. She emphasized the company's commitment to bridging the digital divide and acknowledged the sacrifices made by healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pavalluri announced the upcoming 4th annual Stars and Stripes community run and walk, scheduled for Saturday, June 29th, aimed at raising funds for the Valley Health Foundation. The event, in partnership with Blue Energy, has previously raised nearly $1 million to support local healthcare initiatives. This year, the goal is to raise an additional $360,000 to benefit three county hospitals and 14 healthcare clinics serving over 1 million residents.
The event aims to attract 3,000 participants for various running and walking categories, including a 5K and a 10K, as well as a kids' club. Organizers are also seeking 400 volunteers to ensure a successful event. The run will take place in downtown San Jose, starting and finishing at Meadow.
Pavalluri encouraged community involvement, urging attendees to register for the event and promote it within their networks. She also invited elected officials to participate in a special challenge designed for them. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available.
The call to action reflects a broader recognition of the critical role healthcare workers play in the community, reinforcing the need for continued support and appreciation for their efforts.
