During a recent city council meeting in Hudson, Ohio, Mayor Jeffrey Anzavino presented a proclamation recognizing the Hudson High School Chamber Orchestra for their outstanding international performances. The orchestra, which traveled to Austria and Slovakia from June 29 to July 7, 2024, participated in two music festivals, showcasing their talents and dedication.
The proclamation highlighted the orchestra's achievements, including winning a gold medal at the Bratislava International Youth Music Festival and performing at the International Cantus Salzburg Festival, where they received enthusiastic applause from international audiences. The students also had the opportunity to explore the cultural heritage of legendary composers, including a visit to Mozart's birthplace in Salzburg.
Mayor Anzavino expressed gratitude to music director Roberto Areate for his role in preparing the students for their performances and urged residents to congratulate the young musicians for their hard work. Councilor Van Wijk added that the city takes pride in the orchestra's accomplishments, noting their newfound international recognition.
Areate, in accepting the proclamation, thanked the city and school district for their support and acknowledged the efforts of parents who chaperoned the trip, ensuring a smooth experience for the students. The meeting also included a reminder for attendees to maintain decorum during public comments, which followed the proclamation presentation.
