During a recent government meeting, Sherry Shambo, a resident of Garden Prairie, voiced her deep concerns regarding safety measures proposed for a problematic intersection near her home. Shambo, who has witnessed multiple accidents at the corner, including fatal incidents, expressed her apprehension about the installation of rumble strips intended to deter speeding and improve safety.

Shambo highlighted that since construction on a nearby road rerouted traffic, many drivers have been ignoring stop signs, leading to an increase in dangerous situations. While she acknowledged that rumble strips might prevent some accidents, she argued that they would not address the root issue of reckless driving. Instead, she fears that the constant noise from the rumble strips would disrupt the peace she sought when moving to the countryside over 30 years ago.

In her passionate plea, Shambo criticized the county for the lack of communication regarding the installation of the rumble strips, which was scheduled to begin the following morning. She expressed disappointment that residents were not given adequate notice to voice their concerns, stating that many community members were unaware of the meeting due to work commitments.
