In a recent government meeting, plans for a significant renovation of a local storefront were presented, aiming to enhance both the building's aesthetic appeal and functionality. The proposed changes include replacing the existing storefront with full glass windows featuring an aluminum clad, dark bronze finish, similar to the Kluges Brew storefront. The design will incorporate three glass panels on the north side and two on the south, with a recessed entry door positioned centrally on the south side.

The renovation will also involve the removal of existing paint from the brick facade, with repairs and repointing of any damaged areas. The second-floor windows will be updated to match the new storefront design, maintaining the original opening sizes. A blue canvas awning is planned to be installed above the storefront, reminiscent of the neighboring Freestyle Hair Academy.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the demolition of a rear addition covered by a shed roof, with plans to restore the original rear wall. Usable bricks from the demolished structure will be repurposed to repair the original facade, ensuring a cohesive look despite slight variations in weathering. New windows matching the storefront design will be installed on the upper floor rear, along with a new rear door.

The north side of the building will undergo similar restoration, with paint removal and new windows installed to match the updated storefront. An alley-facing door will be added to provide access to a second-floor ballet space, accompanied by an awning that matches the storefront.

City staff expressed strong support for the renovation, highlighting its potential positive impact on the building and the surrounding district. They noted the structure's significant need for both interior and exterior improvements and recommended approval of the application as submitted. The proposed changes are expected to revitalize the building, enhance parking availability, and contribute positively to the local community's aesthetic.
