During a recent city council meeting, Councilmember Hoffmeister expressed interest in serving on an ad hoc committee aimed at addressing community concerns. The council unanimously supported her appointment, recognizing the significance of her district's involvement in the committee's work.
The meeting concluded on a somber note as the council paid tribute to Deborah Solomon, a longtime staff member who passed away unexpectedly on June 11 while on medical leave. Solomon, who joined the Concord City staff in 1996, was remembered for her dedication and contributions, starting as a part-time teacher's aide before becoming an administrative clerk. Her colleagues highlighted her feisty spirit, loyalty, and meticulous attention to detail in managing legal documents and contracts.
A memorial service for Solomon is scheduled for July 11 at Our Lady of Queen of the World Church in Bay Point. In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations to her favorite animal rescue organization, Animal Place. The council expressed deep sorrow over her passing, noting that she will be greatly missed by her colleagues and the community she served.
