Delray Beach tackles homelessness with innovative community initiative

A key focus of the meeting was the recent \"point in time\" homelessness count, which recorded 106 individuals experiencing homelessness in Delray Beach. Craig provided a breakdown of these numbers, revealing that 22 individuals were not seen again after the count, while others had either been incarcerated, moved away, or found shelter. Notably, Delray Beach's increase in homelessness was reported at 4.6%, significantly lower than the 15% rise observed across Palm Beach County.

The initiative's model, which operates without a formal corporate identity to avoid competition with other agencies, aims to provide tailored support to residents of Delray Beach. Craig emphasized the importance of understanding each individual's circumstances and working collaboratively to connect them with necessary resources, such as housing and transportation.
