In a recent government meeting, community members discussed upcoming events aimed at promoting veteran engagement and community involvement. Notably, the AMVETS Post 50 announced a cornhole tournament in collaboration with the White Silver Springs Firehouse, scheduled for September 21st. This event aims to foster camaraderie and support among local veterans and residents.
Additionally, the third annual Fest 2024, organized by the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition, is set to take place on September 28th at the Gramsville Fairgrounds. This event promises a day filled with activities focused on veteran life enrichment, featuring demonstrations in various hobbies and occupations, information booths, and vendor displays. Attendees can look forward to performances by three musicians, including two local acts and one from Kentucky.
The festival will offer a diverse range of activities, including woodworking, steel forging, animal therapy with horses and alpacas, and a writing workshop. Other engaging options will include a horseshoe tournament, guided hunts information, and fun activities like lure making, archery, axe throwing, and fly tying. The event is open to all veterans, their families, and the wider community, running from 11 AM to 4 PM.
These initiatives highlight the commitment of local organizations to support veterans and strengthen community ties through engaging and enriching activities.
