In a recent government meeting held on September 4th, significant developments were announced regarding infrastructure, juvenile rehabilitation funding, and tax cuts in West Virginia.

Governor Jim Justice highlighted the completion of a new 4.6-mile connector trail at Chief Logan State Park, which links to Bear Walla Trail. This initiative is expected to enhance recreational opportunities and attract more visitors to the state, with over 90,000 trail permits sold this year alone. The governor emphasized the positive impact of outdoor recreation on local economies, stating that it would foster additional business and commerce in the region.

In a move to bolster juvenile rehabilitation services, Justice announced the distribution of $698,000 in grants for ten projects across the state. He underscored the importance of supporting at-risk youth, asserting that investing in rehabilitation is beneficial for the community as a whole.

The governor also addressed the state’s revenue numbers, revealing that July and August saw a shortfall of $13 million compared to budget estimates. However, he reassured that the state remains in a strong financial position, citing a previous surplus of $826 million.
