During a recent government meeting, two local heroes were honored for their exceptional service to the community: Detective Cynthia Leo Garcia and Corporal Quinn Hanley.

Detective Garcia was recognized as the 2024 Woman of the Year for her life-saving actions during a critical incident on March 5, 2024. Corporal Quinn Hanley was honored as the 2024 Veteran of the Year. A member of the Upland Police Department and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserve, Hanley has dedicated nearly three decades to serving his community. He has played a vital role in various capacities, including as a high school history teacher and a member of the police department's K9 unit. His recent efforts in apprehending a burglary suspect with the help of his K9 partner, Rudy, further exemplify his commitment to public safety.

Both honorees were celebrated for their unwavering dedication and service, with city officials expressing gratitude for their contributions to the community.
