Heroic officers save life during medical emergency

During a recent government meeting, significant discussions centered around a life-saving incident involving local law enforcement and ongoing staffing challenges within the department.

A medical emergency at a local tavern prompted a swift response from Amboy police officer Tom Lehman and Deputy Kyle Kellen. They arrived at the scene where a woman had suffered a seizure and was unresponsive. Deputy Kellen utilized an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to administer a shock, successfully reviving the individual. The incident was highlighted as a commendable example of effective emergency response, with plans to formally recognize the officers at an upcoming county board meeting once the appropriate plaques are received.

In addition to the commendation, the meeting addressed staffing issues within the department. A road deputy recently resigned to pursue opportunities in the private sector, while another correctional deputy left without notice. Furthermore, a third correctional deputy is currently on extended medical leave due to a serious traffic accident involving his spouse. These developments raise concerns about maintaining adequate staffing levels in the department moving forward.
