During a recent government meeting, Jennifer Mack from Kenda Keys Collaborative provided an update on the ongoing strategic planning efforts for Manville, including the comprehensive and thoroughfare plans. The presentation highlighted key findings from the community survey, which received 676 responses—exceeding the initial goal of 500.

Mack noted that residents expressed a strong desire to preserve trees, create a city center, and improve infrastructure while managing growth. Other priorities included enhancing safety for walking and biking, addressing drainage issues, and promoting environmental sustainability. The survey also revealed a significant interest in local retail growth and the preservation of Manville's small-town charm.

The community engagement process involved nine focus group sessions and two city council workshops. Respondents indicated that stormwater management was the top priority, followed by public safety services and parks and recreation amenities. Notably, 90.6% of participants agreed that the city should strive for sustainable growth that balances new development with existing community needs.

Mack also shared insights on residents' views regarding local regulations, particularly concerning the sale of alcohol for breweries and wineries, which garnered a 64.1% agreement rate. Additionally, there was a call for the city to explore methods used by other municipalities to encourage beneficial commercial development.

The meeting underscored the community's commitment to maintaining Manville's unique character while accommodating growth and development. The findings from the survey will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the city as planning efforts continue.
