In a recent government meeting, the Dobbins Bennett Girls Softball team was honored for their historic achievements during the 2024 season. The team, which finished with an impressive overall record of 35 wins and 11 losses, made headlines as they became the first in the school's history to earn a state championship title.
The recognition highlighted the team's remarkable journey, including their victories as East Tennessee Classic Champions and district and region champions. Their state championship win, which took place on May 24, 2024, in Murfreesboro, was a nail-biting 3-2 victory against Stewarts Creek High School.
Individual accolades were also celebrated, with Julianne Tipton receiving multiple honors, including All-Conference Pitcher of the Year and Northeast Tennessee Super 16 Player of the Year. She achieved a school record of 600 career strikeouts. Other standout players included Haley Porter, who set a school record with 17 home runs this season, and several teammates who earned All-Conference and All-State recognitions.
The meeting underscored the importance of teamwork, with the coach emphasizing that championships are won collectively, as players support one another through challenges. The event concluded with a heartfelt message encouraging the young athletes to maintain their bonds and carry the lessons learned into their future endeavors. The community expressed immense pride in the team's accomplishments, marking a significant milestone in Dobbins Bennett's athletic history.
