During a recent government meeting, the agenda focused on the need for additional easements related to the Windward Sewer and Golf Road pump station project. Engineer Schneider presented the case, highlighting the critical condition of a siphon that currently crosses from the Abbey Road area through a ravine to the Golf Road, adjacent to the wastewater treatment plant.
Schneider emphasized the urgency of the project, citing issues such as flooding and backups that necessitate the replacement of the aging siphon before it potentially fails. To facilitate this work, the city requires two new easements from local property owners to expand the existing easement.
The financial implications of acquiring these easements were also discussed. One easement is expected to cost the city approximately $775, while the other is being negotiated for a nominal fee of one dollar, with an overall expenditure of around $2,200 anticipated for both easements. This project aims to enhance the infrastructure and mitigate flooding risks in the area, underscoring the city's commitment to maintaining essential services.
