During a recent government meeting, city officials provided a comprehensive update on the strategic planning efforts initiated in December 2022. City Manager T. Michael Stavros emphasized the importance of this initiative, which aims to enhance the city's operations and community engagement.
Katrina Hill, a key contributor to the planning process, outlined the development of six strategic pillars that serve as the foundation for the city's goals. The planning process involved extensive community input, including focus groups with city leadership, community partners, and City University graduates. A community survey launched in March 2023 will continue to gauge public sentiment biannually, ensuring that the strategic plan remains aligned with residents' needs.
The strategic plan, which is set to be published on the city website upon adoption, includes a detailed structure that outlines each pillar, associated goals, and strategies for implementation. A total of 25 goals were established during a strategic retreat held in March 2024, leading to the identification of 116 action strategies designed to achieve these objectives over the next five years.
The plan also incorporates performance metrics to track progress and fiscal impacts, ensuring accountability and transparency in the execution of the strategies. City officials expressed optimism about the plan's potential to drive meaningful improvements in the community, highlighting the collaborative effort that has shaped this comprehensive approach to governance.
