Residents highlighted the increasing dangers at local intersections, citing a significant rise in accidents and aggressive driving behaviors.

One resident, who has lived near the dangerous intersection for over 30 years, reported witnessing a decline in police presence coinciding with the rise in reckless driving. She proposed several safety measures, including increased police enforcement and the installation of traffic circles to mitigate risks.

Another speaker, Jesse Bloom, representing the King County Ag Commission, emphasized the need to protect agricultural lands in the region, arguing that large-scale battery storage projects could threaten these vital areas. He urged the council to prioritize the preservation of the county's limited agricultural resources.

Kimberly Hodgin, a long-time resident, echoed the call for immediate action, recounting her own experiences with dangerous driving conditions and the fear for children's safety in the area. The motion aims to address the alarming rise in traffic-related injuries and fatalities, which have surged across Washington state.

Nick Bowman, a council analyst, noted that traffic fatalities in King County have doubled since 2014, with speeding being a significant contributing factor. The proposed motion seeks a comprehensive report by December 31, 2024, detailing prioritized roadway improvements and necessary resources for implementation.
