Community voices raise alarm over traffic safety concerns

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed community feedback regarding traffic concerns and safety measures in the village. The input was gathered through a map input platform, highlighting five key corridors: Wellington Trace, Forest Hill Boulevard, Lake Worth Road, Big Blue Trace, and Pearson Road.

The feedback revealed that 30% of respondents expressed worries about vehicular traffic, while 15% raised concerns about pedestrian safety and another 15% about speeding. Additionally, 7% of comments pertained to bicycle safety, and a smaller fraction, 1%, focused on equestrian issues. A significant portion of the feedback emphasized the need for improved safety at specific intersections.

The analysis conducted by officials corroborated these community concerns, identifying the same five corridors as areas needing attention. Notably, the data indicated that approximately 13% of roadway segments in the village have speed limits exceeding 40 mph, further underscoring the need for potential traffic management strategies.

In response to these findings, officials proposed the installation of signage at community events, including food truck nights and concert series, to enhance awareness and safety. The meeting underscored the importance of addressing both pedestrian and vehicular safety to foster a more secure environment for all residents.
