Residents of Eustis raised concerns during a recent city commission meeting regarding high water bills, with one resident detailing her struggles with charges despite minimal water usage. The resident, who moved into her home in May, reported being billed for water usage dating back to January, leading to confusion and frustration over charges that she claims do not reflect her actual consumption. She stated that she has consistently complained about the bills, which have included penalties, and expressed feeling overwhelmed by the situation.
City officials acknowledged the resident's concerns and indicated that they would follow up to investigate the issue further. A local plumber in attendance suggested that the problem could stem from a faulty water meter, although he noted that such occurrences are rare.
In addition to addressing the water billing issue, the commission moved on to discuss the consent agenda, which included six items. All items were approved without further discussion. Among the resolutions passed was one adopting a user fee for public electric vehicle charging stations in Eustis, aimed at promoting sustainable transportation options within the city.
The meeting highlighted ongoing challenges residents face with utility billing and the city's commitment to addressing these issues while also advancing initiatives for electric vehicle infrastructure.
