The recent government meeting highlighted the success of the Harry White Horse International Wood Sculpture Festival, which took place in San Baviano. Attendees were encouraged to visit the festival, showcasing 11 stunning sculptures from artists around the globe, including several indigenous creators.
The event, inspired by the vision of Gene Delcourt and honoring the legacy of Harry Whitehorse, received significant support from the Ho Chunk community and the White Horse family. The festival's opening featured performances by the Thunder Cloud Singers and Dancers, with remarks from John Greendear, president of the Outchunk Nation.
Officials emphasized the importance of recognizing and celebrating the ancestral significance of the land, particularly in relation to San Damiano. The collaboration between the Ho Chunk Partnership and international artists was noted as a key element in making the festival a vibrant celebration of culture and creativity.
