School traffic chaos demands urgent solutions from officials

Traffic congestion around local schools has become a pressing issue, as highlighted in a recent government meeting. Concerns were raised regarding the significant delays experienced by parents picking up students, particularly at the high school and middle school levels.

One key point of discussion was the difficulty parents face when trying to navigate the area during peak dismissal times. With many parents forced to make right turns to access elementary schools due to heavy traffic, left turns towards Maylon Moore have become nearly impossible. This has led to significant backups, particularly after 2 PM, when parents arrive to pick up their children. Reports indicate that some parents may wait up to 45 minutes in line, causing traffic to spill over onto main roads like Battle Creek Way.

The situation is exacerbated by the lack of adequate traffic lanes and turning lanes, which has resulted in vehicles blocking Claiborne Road as they attempt to enter school premises. Suggestions were made to allow school buses exclusive access to certain routes to alleviate congestion.
