In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the ongoing construction project led by Bay Construction, which aims to improve road access and infrastructure around a local high school. The project, divided into three phases, is currently in Phase 1, which involves widening the road from 22 feet to 38 feet and is expected to take approximately six to seven months to complete. This phase will maintain access to two driveways at all times, ensuring that traffic flow is minimally disrupted during the school year.
Israel Campos from Bay Construction provided details on the project, confirming that the road will be reinforced with 11 inches of concrete and 8 inches of flex base. He assured attendees that the construction would not interfere with existing water and sewer lines, and any necessary utility work would be completed without affecting school operations.
Concerns were raised about traffic management during the construction, particularly as it coincides with the school year. Campos explained that while the road will be closed to through traffic, local access will be maintained, and detour signs will guide drivers. He emphasized that communication with the community would be a priority, with updates provided regularly to keep residents informed about progress and any potential delays.
The meeting also touched on the future phases of the project, with Phase 2 set to begin once Phase 1 is completed. This phase will further enhance access to the school, ensuring that two driveways remain operational. Attendees expressed gratitude for the long-awaited improvements, which have been in discussion for several years, and acknowledged the collaboration between the city and construction teams.
As the meeting concluded, officials committed to providing updates every six months and emphasized the importance of community communication to alleviate concerns during the construction period. The project is seen as a significant step towards improving local infrastructure and ensuring safer access for students and residents alike.
