In a recent meeting of the City of Hope Board of Directors, significant steps were taken to honor two local fallen soldiers with the dedication of memorial highway signs. The board discussed resolutions to commemorate Sergeant Thomas Chad Rosenbaum and Staff Sergeant Carlo Montel Robinson, both of whom lost their lives while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, respectively.
Miss Donna Rosenbaum, mother of Sergeant Rosenbaum, and Miss Jennifer Robinson, mother of Staff Sergeant Robinson, approached the board with a proposal for memorial signs along highways that run through Hope. The proposed locations include signs at the city limits on Highway 67 and Highway 29, marking the entrances to the city.
City officials confirmed that the Arkansas Department of Transportation (RDOT) has indicated that the installation of these signs is feasible, pending the approval of a resolution from the board. The board unanimously voted in favor of both resolutions, authorizing the city manager to seek the necessary permits from RDOT. The signs will serve as a lasting tribute to the sacrifices made by these servicemen and will include language honoring their memory.
In addition to the resolutions, the board discussed the potential for a public dedication ceremony once the signs are installed, allowing the community to come together to honor the fallen soldiers. The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude towards Miss Rosenbaum and Miss Robinson for their efforts in bringing this initiative to fruition.
The board also briefly touched on other agenda items, including an emergency drainage project, indicating ongoing efforts to address local infrastructure needs.
