During a recent government meeting, residents of Castlewoods raised concerns regarding a long-standing drainage issue that has persisted for nearly a decade. A representative, Chuck, addressed the board, detailing the history of the problem and the legal actions taken to resolve it.
In May 2022, residents filed a lawsuit against the county over the drainage concerns, which stemmed from construction activities on a lot purchased by a local builder, Mr. Grogan. The litigation has since been resolved, but the completion of a necessary project remains outstanding before the case can be fully closed.
The issue originated when a previous builder, who went bankrupt, filled in a private drainage easement within the subdivision. This action was discovered by residents, prompting them to alert county officials. The county then attempted to communicate with the builder, only to find that the property had been foreclosed by Community Bank, which subsequently hired another contractor to finish the construction.
In response to the drainage concerns, the bank directed the new builder to undertake remedial work in the affected easement. However, complications arose as the development of the lot did not align with the original design specifications set by the subdivision developer.
The board acknowledged the ongoing challenges and the need for further action to ensure the drainage issue is adequately addressed, emphasizing the importance of resolving the matter for the community's well-being.
