In a recent government meeting, officials discussed several new developments and applications in the Collierville area, highlighting a mix of commercial and residential projects aimed at enhancing local infrastructure and services.
One of the key proposals is for a Dutch Brothers Coffee kiosk, which will be located in Schilling Farms. This drive-through and walk-up service facility will occupy a narrow strip of land previously home to a Sun Trust Bank on Poplar Avenue. Additionally, a convenience store and gas station with a car wash is being proposed for the Carriage Crossing area, with plans to submit a conditional use permit to the planning commission soon.
Dunkin' Donuts is also in the pipeline, currently working on a traffic study for its location on Poplar Avenue. Meanwhile, a small subdivision called Eagles Landing, featuring seven lots, is being planned on South Rowlett, across from a trailer park.
Another significant project on the horizon is Morrison Village, a mixed-use development that includes retail, office space, and 100 multifamily units. This project, which has been dormant since its initial entitlements in 2009, is expected to be presented for approval this fall.
In terms of industrial development, Enterprise Rent A Car and Sherwin Williams are both moving forward with projects on Cowan Road, with the latter noted for its aesthetically pleasing design. The Schilling Farms Water Tower District is also seeing expansion, with two additional retail buildings submitted for future development.
Concerns were raised regarding Toyota's recent proposal, which was turned down by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen due to apprehensions about the impact on the town's gateway. However, Toyota is reportedly still interested in purchasing the property and may explore alternative development options.
Overall, the meeting underscored a proactive approach to urban development in Collierville, with multiple projects aimed at boosting local commerce and residential options while addressing community concerns.
