Residents of Tuscan Villas, a multifamily community in Tamarac, voiced strong opposition during a recent government meeting regarding a proposed sanitation and waste haul company. Representing the Tuscan Villas Condominium Association, a board member expressed concerns about the potential impact on the community, which has been home to 106 families since 2009.
The board member criticized the recommendation made by Maxine Callaway, the director of community development and assistant city manager, to allow the sanitation company to operate in close proximity to residential homes. They argued that this decision reflects a lack of concern from the city for the well-being of residents.
Highlighting existing regulations, the representative pointed out that there is already a law in place that restricts such operations to a minimum distance of 500 feet from residential areas. The community's opposition underscores a broader concern about local governance and the prioritization of residents' needs in urban planning decisions.
