During a recent government meeting, local resident Dr. Effy Dean voiced strong concerns regarding a proposed party dock at Meadowpole Lake, a small, non-motorized body of water frequented by retirees and outdoor enthusiasts. Dr. Dean, who resides adjacent to the proposed site, emphasized the community's preference for quiet recreational activities such as fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding, rather than a large party dock that could disrupt the tranquil environment.
In her remarks, Dr. Dean acknowledged her support for certain improvements, including the installation of boulders and shoreline rebuilding, as well as a tee for fishing access. However, she expressed her opposition to the size of the proposed dock, comparing it to the main floor of nearby homes, which she deemed excessively large for the area.
Furthermore, Dr. Dean highlighted a significant concern regarding community engagement, stating that local residents within a two to three-block radius of the proposal had not been adequately surveyed or notified about the plans. She pointed out that many residents may not have the time to attend meetings or review agendas regularly, suggesting a need for better communication from local authorities regarding developments that could impact their neighborhood.
