Former President Donald Trump will continue to be bound by a gag order in his criminal hush money case, following a felony conviction last month. The New York Court of Appeals has opted not to hear an appeal regarding the gag order, stating that no substantial constitutional question is at stake. This order was initially imposed by the presiding judge in March, prior to the trial. Trump was previously found in contempt of court for breaching this order, facing the threat of jail time as a consequence. The Trump campaign has announced its intention to persist in challenging the gag order.
In a separate legal development, Anderson Lee Aldrich, the shooter responsible for the deaths of five individuals at an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs, has pleaded guilty to 50 federal hate crimes. Aldrich has been sentenced to 55 life terms in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2022 attack. This plea follows a previous guilty plea to state charges last year.
