The Riverview Recreation Department is gearing up for a vibrant summer, with a series of events and activities designed to engage the community. Todd Dickman, representing the department, announced that summer concerts will commence this Wednesday, July 17, and continue every Wednesday until September 4. The concerts will take place at Young Patriots Park from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, featuring a diverse lineup including Motown and R&B band Detour, contemporary jazz, and a Journey tribute band, Capture Detroit.
In addition to the concerts, the department is hosting its annual fishing derby on Saturday, July 27, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM, with registration starting at 8:30 AM. The event, supported by the Downriver Bass Association, will cater to four age groups: 6 and under, 7 to 9, 10 to 12, and 13 to 16.
The recreation department is also promoting its summer programming, with openings still available for various camps and activities. Interested residents can find more information on the Riverview Recreation website.
Furthermore, a new senior transportation program has been launched to assist seniors in getting to appointments and other destinations. Residents are encouraged to reach out to the recreation department for assistance.
