In recent weeks, the city has witnessed a troubling rise in armed criminal activity, prompting urgent discussions among local officials. During a recent government meeting, several incidents were highlighted, underscoring the need for increased public awareness and safety measures.

On June 10th, an armed robbery occurred at a business on the 100 block of Blanding Avenue. The suspect brandished a weapon while stealing items, but fled the scene before police could apprehend him. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

A more alarming incident took place on June 26th, when an armed carjacking was reported in the 2800 block of Central Avenue. Two suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun, demanded that a victim exit her vehicle. The victim was allowed to remove her two small children before the suspects drove off. Thanks to a coordinated response from the Alameda Police Department and neighboring law enforcement agencies, two of the three suspects were apprehended shortly after the incident.

The following day, June 27th, another armed robbery was reported when a resident confronted two suspects attempting to break into his parked vehicle. One suspect brandished a firearm, causing the victim to flee. The suspects managed to escape in a vehicle, and despite extensive searches, they were not located.

These incidents have raised significant concerns about public safety in the community.
