Community rallies to support local schools with generous donations

In a recent board meeting, members celebrated a successful fundraising year, reporting a strong start for the current year with community donations totaling $15,586.08. Highlights included contributions from local businesses and organizations, which provided essential supplies and support for various educational initiatives.

Notable donations included $150 from Mike Porter Realty Association for backpacks at the CW McGraw Elementary back-to-school breakfast, and multiple contributions from local eateries and service providers such as Roundtable Pizza, Wheezy's, and Baskin Robbins. The board acknowledged the generosity of donors who supported new teachers and middle school reading challenges, with Amanda Coltman providing $60 for library snacks.

Pecan Grove Elementary School received significant support, including a $515.99 donation for Misses Craig's students and $285 worth of supplies from Yuma First Church of Nazarene. Roosevelt Elementary School stood out with a $5,000 grant from Burlington Coat Factory, aimed at enhancing educational resources.

The meeting also highlighted the success of the recent STEM camp, which benefited from donations from various local entities, including the Arizona Cardinals and Arizona Western College Foundation. The board expressed gratitude for the community's ongoing support, which plays a crucial role in enriching the educational experience for students across the district.
