City moves forward with seven controversial annexation agreements

During a recent government meeting, officials discussed a series of annexation agreements initiated by Citi, which are set to bring seven properties into the City of Fort Pierce. These agreements stem from existing utility contracts between the city and the Fort Pierce Utility Authority (FPUA), established by property owners when they connected to city utilities.

City representatives noted that some of these agreements date back to as early as 1999, meaning current property owners may not have been aware of their obligations under these contracts. The annexation process is designed to formalize the connection between the properties and the city, allowing for the city to move forward with annexation agreements.

The first ordinance under consideration pertains to Moriah Circle, with officials clarifying that there will be no immediate changes to the current zoning or future land use of the properties involved in these agreements. The meeting highlighted the importance of these annexations in maintaining the city's utility management and planning efforts.
