Struggling homeowner battles insurance for roof repairs

Penae reported that she has made progress since the last hearing, having secured a contract with a roofing company to address the issues. However, she is currently facing financial difficulties exacerbated by her ex-husband's health problems, which have impacted her ability to fund the repairs. Despite these challenges, she expressed hope that the roofing work could be completed within the next 90 days, ideally before the holiday season.

The city officials acknowledged the homeowner's efforts and agreed to a compliance schedule, setting a deadline of November 20 for the completion of the repairs. If compliance is not achieved by this date, daily fines of $25 could be imposed, accumulating up to $2,500, along with administrative costs of $411.

Penae presented photographs of the current roof condition and the roofing contract, which outlines the necessary repairs, including the removal of the tarp and damaged materials. The city had no objections to the submitted documents, and the meeting concluded with a reminder for Penae to maintain communication with city officials should any delays arise.
