The first item, identified as Item 333, pertains to the 10801 Sorrento Valley Road Vacation Project, which is not subject to the mayor's veto. The project involves a coastal development permit, site development permit, and the vacation of a 0.15-acre unnamed alley.
Ben Hefferteppi, the development project manager, presented details about the project, which is located in the Torrey Pines Community Plan area. The site is bordered by the Sorrento Valley Pet Cemetery and Interstate 805, and currently features a utility pool, storage container, and a portion of a pet cremation facility. The proposed vacation of the alley would transfer ownership of the 6,518 square foot area to the adjacent property owner, with specific square footage allocations for each of the four surrounding parcels.
Additionally, the council addressed Item 332, which involves declaring a small portion of city-owned land on Sorrento Valley Road as exempt surplus land. This item authorizes the sale of 40 square feet of excess public land to the adjacent property owner, Velmat LP. The council plans to conduct separate votes on each item following a combined staff presentation and public testimony.
