During a recent government meeting, discussions centered around two petitioners seeking pardons, Gregory George and Ryan Anthony Gregory, both of whom have significant criminal backgrounds.
Gregory George, now 32, was previously convicted at age 19 for illegal possession of a weapon and child pornography, alongside a risk of injury to a minor. Notably, a protective order for the victim remains in effect until 2060. The committee expressed concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding the protective order and the nature of George's past relationship with the victim. Due to these unresolved questions, members indicated they could not support his request for a pardon at this time.
In contrast, Ryan Anthony Gregory, who has completed his treatment program and maintained stable employment since 2020, was discussed as a potential candidate for a pardon. However, similar concerns arose regarding the status of a protective order against him, which also extends until 2060. Committee members emphasized the importance of clarifying the protective order's status before proceeding with his hearing, suggesting that moving forward without this information could lead to premature denial of his request.
The meeting concluded with a decision to pause discussions on both cases until further information could be gathered regarding the protective orders in place.
