During a recent government meeting, community leaders highlighted a series of upcoming events aimed at celebrating cultural heritage and supporting local students. The Puerto Rican community kicked off a week of festivities, which included a flag-raising ceremony on Monday and will culminate in the Fiesta Patrolares festival this Sunday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The festival, originally established in Puerto Rico, promises to be a vibrant celebration from noon to 6 PM.

In addition to the cultural events, a notable initiative was announced: the 9th annual book bag giveaway, organized in memory of a community leader's father. Scheduled for August 20 at Juan Martinez Memorial Park on Lamberton Street, the event will provide the first 200 students with book bags filled with school supplies and food.
