City launches new housing justice initiative to enforce rental laws

To support this initiative, the city has repurposed two vacant code enforcement positions, which were recently advertised for a housing equity specialist role. These specialists will focus specifically on the enforcement of the short-term rental regulations, a task that requires specialized research skills rather than the general investigative approach typically employed.

In addition to enforcing the rental ordinance, the new specialists will also conduct interior warrant inspections, further expanding the city's capacity to address housing equity issues.
