In a recent government meeting, officials highlighted the significant impact of the ARPA-funded eviction prevention program, a collaboration between the Athens Resource Center (ARC) and Family Promise of Athens. The program aims to combat homelessness and has exceeded its initial goal of assisting 200 households in Athens-Clarke County, successfully aiding 383 households, which translates to 1,070 individuals.
Lucy Hudgens, Executive Director of ARC, and Hannah Dolan, Prevention Coordinator at Family Promise, shared insights into the program's metrics and outcomes. Over an eight-month period, the initiative provided eviction prevention services to 135 households, impacting 359 individuals. Follow-up data revealed that 84% of those assisted remained housed after three months, with ongoing efforts to track six-month housing stability.
The meeting underscored the importance of community education regarding the program's successes and the lives it has transformed. Both organizations are committed to sharing information with stakeholders and community members to raise awareness about the critical services provided and the positive outcomes achieved. The collaboration exemplifies a proactive approach to addressing homelessness and ensuring stability for vulnerable populations in the community.
