The project faced delays due to permitting issues with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and rising oil prices, which inflated engineering estimates by over half a million dollars. The board opted to pause the project until economic conditions improved, ensuring responsible use of taxpayer funds.

Additionally, the village announced it has secured a grant from the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus aimed at enhancing public safety through clean energy initiatives. This funding will further support the community's infrastructure and safety efforts.
