During a recent city council meeting, the Carmel community celebrated the swearing-in of seven new police officers, marking a significant expansion for the Carmel Police Department. The new officers include Caitlin Colgate, a lateral hire from IUPUI; Victoria Simmons, a criminal justice major and former cadet; Bailey Boyd, an investment broker; Brian Vasquez, a Purdue University graduate; Andrew Gordon, who persevered through the hiring process; Cameron Miller, a collegiate athlete from Franklin College; and Taknin Tang, who previously worked with the Marion County probation office. This group represents the largest class of new officers in recent history, reflecting the department's commitment to enhancing public safety.
