Mandy Drumming, a decorative arts and design historian, highlighted the architectural significance of the Schofield Parsonage, linking it to the Arts and Crafts movement. Drumming noted that the parsonage's design features, such as exposed rafters and dormers, reflect a reaction against industrialization and a desire for authenticity in craftsmanship. She expressed a desire to present a lecture on the parsonage's historical context and its connections to the Friendship Baptist Church and the Schofield School, which was founded by Quaker Martha Scof and supported by winter colonists.

Drumming criticized the lack of awareness surrounding the historical narratives tied to these buildings, asserting that the stories of their architectural significance and the contributions of Black craftsmen and students involved in their construction are often overlooked. She urged the community to recognize and preserve these important cultural landmarks, which she believes are integral to Aiken's heritage.
