US Army Staff Sergeant Jamie Montalvo, a Newport News, Virginia native, has made significant contributions to the nation through her military service and ongoing community involvement. Enlisting at just 17 years old in July 1999, Montalvo dedicated 11 years to the Army, achieving the rank of staff sergeant before her honorable discharge in September 2010.

Her military career began with rigorous training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, followed by specialized instruction as an information technology specialist at Fort Gordon, Georgia. Montalvo served in Heidelberg, Germany, with the United States Army Medical Command from 1999 to 2004, where she excelled as a senior information systems operator maintainer. She later transitioned to Fort Drum, New York, serving as an automated data processor and security team chief within the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, including a deployment to Baghdad, Iraq.

From 2007 to 2010, Montalvo worked with the US Army Mid Atlantic Recruiting Battalion in Holmes, Pennsylvania, where she distinguished herself as a recruiter and leader. Her commitment to personal development paralleled her military service; she earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Technology from the University of Maryland in 2011, followed by a project management undergraduate certificate in 2018 and a certified government chief information officer designation in 2021. Most recently, she completed an executive MBA from the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business in May 2024.

Throughout her career, Montalvo has received numerous accolades, including the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Her exceptional performance earned her the US Army Gold Recruiter Badge with two sapphire stars and recognition as the MEDCOM Information Management's Soldier of the Year in 2003.

Beyond her professional achievements, Montalvo is a devoted wife and mother to her 10-year-old son. She actively engages in community service as the 3rd Vice President for the Georgia Government Management Information Sciences Georgia Chapter and has contributed her expertise to Clayton County's Department of Information Technology since January 2015. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, spending quality time with her family, and participating in Zumba classes.
