In a recent government meeting, the city council approved the vacation of a segment of 4th Avenue West Public Right of Way, located east of Adams Street. The motion, initiated by council member Allara and seconded by Contreras, passed unanimously after a brief discussion.
The public hearing was led by Mr. Kerski, who represented the applicant, Bridgestone Ventures LLP, a property owner adjacent to the area in question. The request for vacation was made by Danny's Construction, which aims to utilize the space for additional construction material storage. Kerski noted that the southern half and part of the northern half of the right of way had already been vacated, indicating no plans for future road construction in that location.
The council emphasized the importance of ensuring utility protection and the potential for a future trail, with the applicant agreeing to dedicate necessary easements. The discussion highlighted the area's dense vegetation, with plans to maintain some trees while clearing others for construction purposes.
Following the public hearing, which saw no community opposition, the council moved to close the session and subsequently adopted the resolution approving the vacation. The meeting also included a joint session with the Shakopee Public Utilities Commission, indicating ongoing collaboration between city officials and utility providers.
