The ongoing success of the therapy dog program initiated at Dunphy Elementary School in 2016 was highlighted during a recent government meeting, showcasing its positive influence on the morale and mental well-being of both staff and students. The program, which features four therapy dogs—Winnie, Coconut, Kiwi, and Liezl—has garnered appreciation from the school community for its contributions to emotional support.
During the meeting, several key figures were recognized for their commitment to the program. Joanne Fedorsik and her therapy dog Winnie were acknowledged for their work at Collins School, while Dallas Salvanto and Coconut were honored for their dedication to the Donahue School, ACES program, and Horvath School. Notably, Dallas also received recognition for Kiwi, who recently became a mother to eight puppies, further emphasizing the program's community-oriented spirit.
Lisle was also called to the stage to express gratitude for their contributions to Brackman School and the PAWS program, which supports students and staff alike. The event underscored the vital role that therapy dogs play in enhancing the educational environment, fostering a sense of comfort and support within the school community.
