Exhibit celebrates legacy of black athletes in community

In a recent city council meeting, officials provided an update on the upcoming exhibit titled \"Sincerely Daniel,\" which celebrates 50 years of Black athleticism from 1964 to 2014. The council approved a vendor for the project, and preparations are set to begin at Daniel High School, where measurements of the athletic field will be taken to conceptualize the exhibit.

The exhibit aims to highlight the achievements of Black athletes from the local community, particularly those who have progressed to professional sports, including notable figures such as Shaq Lawson and DeAndre Hopkins. The initiative is rooted in the history of athletic development in the area, emphasizing that many of these athletes were nurtured through local programs before reaching high school.

Plans for the exhibit include a timeline showcasing the integration of the school system, a locker room-themed room featuring mini jumbotrons displaying key football plays, and a gallery dedicated to honoring professional athletes. Additionally, the auditorium will be designed to resemble a basketball stadium, showcasing memorabilia from various sports, including cheerleading and volleyball.

City officials expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting its potential to attract visitors and celebrate the rich sports history of the community.
